After about 5 years of restoration… the Convertible D 1600 Super is almost done. We’ve owned this car for decades and have driven it all over the western US. It used to be Cynthia’s daily driver… my favorite all time car. Originally ordered in 1958 as a USA spec car but delivered via Sonauto in France to an American over there. Convertible D cars were only made one year… as a replacement for the speedster. D’s were replaced in 1960 by the roadsters. Speedsters, D’s and Roadsters all have removable windshields.. surrounded by chrome… as differentiated from cabriolets… with permanent windshields in painted frames (part of the body). There are less than 500 convertible D’s still known. They are best on small curvy roads… sliding sideways on 165 Michelin tires.
